The Shen Guang Long family’s swordmaking tradition began in 1885, during the eleventh year of the Guangxu reign of the Qing dynasty. In 1894, second-generation swordsmith Shen Tingzhang founded the Shen Guang Long Sword Shop in Longquan, Zhejiang. Passed down from father to son through an unbroken family lineage, Shen Guang Long is a China Time-honored Brand renowned at home and abroad as “the Finest Sword Under Heaven.”

One Sword Opens the Way; From Longquan, Legends Rise.
The Shen Guang Long family’s swordmaking tradition has been carried forward by five generations of artisans since 1885. Shen Xinpei, the fourth-generation inheritor, was awarded the title of "Master of Chinese Arts and Crafts" and is a representative inheritor of the Longquan Sword Forging Technique, a national intangible cultural heritage. Shen Zhou, the fifth-generation inheritor and current head, has been honored as a "Senior Arts and Crafts Master" and an "Industry Leader," and is a representative inheritor of the Longquan Sword Forging Technique, a provincial intangible cultural heritage of Zhejiang.
Shen Zhaoqing began forging swords
The first generation, Shen Zhaoqing, began professionally making Longquan swords, laying the foundation for the family's sword-making tradition.
Shen Guang Long Sword Forge founded
The second generation, Shen Tingzhang, founded the Shen Guang Long Sword Forging Shop, giving the family's inherited craft a name that has continued to this day.
Panama Wins Gold Award
won the gold medal at the Panama-Pacific International Exposition (World Expo).
Acquired the title of "Time-honored Brand Intangible Cultural Heritage"
That same year, Shen Guang Long Sword Forge was awarded the title of "China Time-Honored Brand" by the Ministry of Commerce and recognized by the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Culture as a provincial-level productive protection base for the intangible cultural heritage of sword forging.

A Promise Forged in Fire
At thirteen, Shen Xinpei began learning ancient sword casting from his father. At sixteen, Shen Zhou followed his father into the forging workshop.
For Shen Guang Long, inheritance is not a displayed history, but a long-term understanding of heat, materials, and precise handling. These experiences are passed from one generation to the next through collaborative production, repeated calibration, and daily communication.

At the age of 13, he began studying with his father, Shen Huanzhou. Under his father's careful guidance, he quickly mastered the craft. Through diligent study, he gradually grasped the forging techniques for Longquan treasure swords. He has long been engaged in the forging, grinding, assembly, and pattern creation of Longquan treasure swords, training over 60 apprentices, many of whom have been recognized as arts and crafts masters, inheritors of intangible cultural heritage, and senior arts and crafts masters.
- 1948: Born into the Shen Guanglong Sword Shop, a family of Longquan sword makers.
- 1961: At the age of 13, began learning ancient sword forging techniques from his father, Shen Huanzhou (third generation).
- 1972: Forged a sword as a national gift for the U.S. President.
- 1983: Became the fourth-generation head of the Shen Guanglong Sword Shop.
- 1991: Awarded the title of Arts and Crafts Master of Zhejiang Province.
- 1995: Awarded the title of "Folk Arts and Crafts Artist" by UNESCO and the China Folk Literature and Art Association.
- 1996: "Sun and Moon Qiankun Sword" and "Sun and Moon Qiankun Saber" were designated as official equipment for national wushu championships by the National Wushu Academy, the Wushu Sports Management Center, and the Chinese Wushu Association.
- 2003: "Qiankun Sword" was acquired by the Zhejiang Arts and Crafts Museum.
- 2007: Recognized as a representative inheritor of the national intangible cultural heritage "Longquan Treasure Sword Forging Technique," and awarded the "Lifetime Artistic Achievement Award" by the government in the same year.
- 2008: Forged a "Xuanwu Sword" for the Sultan of Oman.
- 2009: "Shengzun Sword" won the gold award at the Shenzhen Cultural Industry Fair.
- 2010: "Four Spirits Sword" won the gold award at the Shenzhen Cultural Industry Fair.
- 2012: Awarded the title of Chinese Arts and Crafts Master.
- 2013: "Qiankun Sword" won the Special Honor Award at the 3rd China Zhejiang Arts and Crafts Exhibition.
- 2015: Forged a "Qiankun Sword" for the first president of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.
- 2016: Appointed Director of the Zhejiang Province Precious Sword Forging Techniques Committee.
- 2019: The "Hehe Treasure Sword" he designed was collected by the second president of Chile during its democratic period; in the same year, he received the National Intangible Cultural Heritage Inheritance Award.
- From 1972 to the present, works forged by Shen Xinpei have been collected by political figures both domestically and internationally, including the U.S. President, Chinese national and provincial leaders, the Sultan of Oman, the President of Afghanistan, and the former President of Chile, as well as renowned individuals in literature, martial arts, film and television, calligraphy, and painting.

Since 1993, he has systematically learned the forging techniques of Longquan treasured swords from his father Shen Xinpei. He has been deeply involved in design, material research, forging, and the transmission of skills, promoting the continuation of traditional craftsmanship in contemporary collections, exhibitions, and usage scenarios.
- In 1993, he began professionally studying Longquan sword forging techniques under his father Shen Xinpei (fourth generation).
- In 1999, he became the fifth-generation head of Shen Guanglong Sword Forge.
- In 2003, his "Yuemian Huajian" (Vietnam Patterned Sword) won the "Excellent Work" award at the Beijing International Tourism Products Exhibition.
- In 2005, he and his father forged a sword for a Chinese provincial leader.
- In 2009, he and his father crafted a "Qiankun Sword" for a Chinese national leader; the "Junhun Sword" (Military Soul Sword) he forged was acquired by the Central Military Commission; the "Lengyue Sword" (Cold Moon Sword) won a gold award at the First China Intangible Cultural Heritage National Protection List - Traditional Handicraft Boutique Exhibition.
- In 2011, the "Chilong Sword" (Hornless Dragon Sword) was acquired by the National Art Museum of China; he forged a Qiankun Sword for a Chinese national leader.
- In 2012, the "Wangzhe Zhijian" (King's Sword) was acquired by the National Art Museum of China.
- In 2013, he forged a "Junzi Jian" (Gentleman's Sword) for a Chinese national leader; the Kangxi Imperial Sword won a gold award at the China Folk Craft Expo.
- In 2014, his "Aoxue Jian" (Proud Snow Sword) won the Grand Prize at the 4th China Zhejiang Arts and Crafts Exhibition; a prominent domestic entrepreneur collected a "Xuanwu Jian" (Black Tortoise Sword).
- In 2016, he was awarded the title of Leader in the Arts and Crafts Industry by the Municipal Government.
- In 2018, he was designated as an inheritor of Zhejiang Provincial Intangible Cultural Heritage - Longquan Treasured Sword Forging Technique.
- In 2019, he was recognized as a Master of Arts and Crafts in Zhejiang Province.
- In 2024, the "Xuanwu Jian" (Black Tortoise Sword) won a gold award at the 20th China (Shenzhen) International Cultural Industries Fair.
- He holds the title of Senior Arts and Crafts Master.
