Founded in 1885 during the reign of Emperor Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty, Longquan Shen Guang Long Sword Forging is located in Longquan City, Zhejiang Province. It is a time-honored Chinese brand and a family-run enterprise, passed down from generation to generation, renowned both domestically and internationally as the "foremost sword under heaven."

品牌源起 / ORIGIN

A single sword cleaves mountains, and Lungchuan stirs with wind and clouds.

Since its establishment in 1885, Shen Guang Long Sword has been passed down through six generations. Shen Xinpei, the fourth-generation inheritor, was awarded the title of "Master of Chinese Arts and Crafts" and is a representative inheritor of the Longquan Sword Forging Technique, a national intangible cultural heritage. Shen Zhou, the fifth-generation inheritor and current head, has been honored as a "Senior Arts and Crafts Master" and an "Industry Leader," and is a representative inheritor of the Longquan Sword Forging Technique, a provincial intangible cultural heritage of Zhejiang.

Shen Chaoqing began forging swords

The first generation, Shen Chaoqing, began professionally making Longquan swords, laying the foundation for the family's sword-making tradition.

Acquired the title of "Time-honored Brand Intangible Cultural Heritage"

That same year, Shen Guang Long Sword Forge was awarded the title of "China Time-Honored Brand" by the Ministry of Commerce and recognized by the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Culture as a provincial-level productive protection base for the intangible cultural heritage of sword forging.

Forging a heartfelt promise

At thirteen, Shen Xinpei began learning ancient sword casting from his father. At sixteen, Shen Zhou followed his father into the forging workshop.

For Shen Guang Long, inheritance is not a displayed history, but a long-term understanding of heat, materials, and precise handling. These experiences are passed from one generation to the next through collaborative production, repeated calibration, and daily communication.

At 13, he began learning from his father, Shen Huanzhou. Under his father's careful guidance, he quickly grasped the craft. Through diligent study, he mastered the forging techniques, and has been engaged in the art of Longquan sword making for fifty-eight years. He has trained over 60 apprentices, many of whom have been recognized as masters, inheritors, and senior arts and crafts artists.

  • Born in 1948 into the Shen Guang Long sword-forging family in Longquan;
  • 1961: At 13, he began studying ancient sword-forging methods with his father, Shen Huanzhou (third generation);
  • 1972: Forged a sword as a national gift for Nixon;
  • 1983: Became the fourth-generation head of Shen Guang Long Sword Shop;
  • 1991: Awarded the title of Zhejiang Provincial Arts and Crafts Master;
  • 1995: Awarded the title of "Folk Arts and Crafts Artist" by UNESCO's China Folk Artists Association;
  • 1996: The "Sun and Moon Qiankun Sword" and "Sun and Moon Qiankun Saber" were designated as official equipment for the National Wushu Championships by the National Wushu Academy, the Wushu Sports Management Center, and the Chinese Wushu Association;
  • 2003: The Qiankun Sword was acquired by the Zhejiang Arts and Crafts Museum;
  • 2007: Recognized as a national-level representative inheritor of the Longquan sword forging technique (intangible cultural heritage), and awarded the "Lifetime Artistic Achievement Award" by the government in the same year;
  • 2008: Forged a "Xuanwu Sword" for Sultan Qaboos bin Said of Oman;
  • 2009: The "Zhizun Sword" won the gold award at the Shenzhen Cultural Industry Fair;
  • 2010: The "Four Spirits Sword" won the gold award at the Shenzhen Cultural Industry Fair;
  • 2012: Awarded the title of China Arts and Crafts Master;
  • 2013: The Qiankun Sword received a special honorary award at the 3rd China Zhejiang Arts and Crafts Boutique Expo;
  • 2015: Forged a "Qiankun Sword" for Hamid Karzai, the first president of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan;
  • 2016: Appointed Director of the Zhejiang Provincial Precious Sword Forging Techniques Committee;
  • 2019: The designed Hehe Precious Sword was collected by Eduardo Frei, the second president of Chile (during the democratic period);
                    Received the National Intangible Cultural Heritage Inheritance Award;
  • From 1972 to the present, swords forged by Shen Xinpei have been collected by domestic and international leaders such as Nixon, Xi Jinping, Sultan Sayyid of Oman, Qiao Shi, Wang Hanbin, Chu Tunan, Afghan President Karzai, and Xia Baolong, as well as famous figures like Jin Yong, Cai Longyun, Li Lianjie, Sha Menghai, Qi Gong, and Shen Peng.

  • 2011: The "Chilong Sword" was collected by the China Arts and Crafts Museum; forged a Qiankun Sword for Wang Hanbin, then Vice Chairman of the Eighth National People's Congress.
  • 2012: The "King's Sword" was collected by the China Arts and Crafts Museum;
  • 2013: Forged a "Gentleman's Sword" for Wang Zhaoguo, then Vice Chairman of the Eleventh National People's Congress; the Kangxi Imperial Sword won the Gold Award at the China Folk Arts and Crafts Expo;
  • 2014: The "Proud Snow Sword" he created won the Grand Prize at the Fourth China Zhejiang Arts and Crafts Expo; Jack Ma collected a "Xuanwu Sword";
  • 2016: Awarded the title of Leader in the Arts and Crafts Industry by the Municipal Government;
  • 2018: Awarded the title of Inheritor of Zhejiang Province Intangible Cultural Heritage - Longquan Sword Forging Technique Project;
  • 2019: Recognized as a Master of Arts and Crafts in Zhejiang Province;
  • 2024: The "Xuanwu Sword" won the Gold Award at the 20th China (Shenzhen) International Cultural Industry Fair;
