After use, wipe off all sweat and moisture, then inspect the blade, fittings, and scabbard. Daily maintenance does not require complex tools; the key is to prevent moisture from remaining on metal surfaces, wooden parts, or the sword bag.
Step One: Wipe Each Part Separately
Use a clean, soft cloth to wipe the blade and metal fittings, avoiding prolonged contact with hand sweat. Use a separate dry cloth for the rosewood handle and scabbard; do not apply metal maintenance oil directly to the wood surface.
When wiping, do not test the sharpness of the blade with your hand, and avoid using abrasive scouring pads, strong acid/alkali cleaners, or unknown polishing agents. If the product comes with specific maintenance instructions, follow those instructions first.
Step Two: Apply a Thin Layer of Anti-Rust Maintenance Product When Needed
For steel blades, such as those made from pattern-welded steel, apply a thin layer of suitable anti-rust maintenance product according to product maintenance requirements. The key is a thin and even application; more is not necessarily better. After application, prevent the oil from entering the gaps of the rosewood scabbard or handle, or from getting on the sword tassel.
Step Three: Store Only After Complete Drying
Ensure the blade, scabbard, and sword bag are all dry before returning them to storage. Long-term storage in enclosed spaces, against walls, or in areas with large daily temperature fluctuations is more prone to moisture accumulation.
Even when not in frequent use, take the sword out regularly for inspection. Gift boxes and sword bags are suitable for storage but cannot replace a dry, ventilated storage environment.
In Case of Rust Spots, Looseness, or Unusual Noises
Stop using the sword immediately, take photos of the problematic area and the overall condition of the sword, then contact the workshop or sales team. Do not attempt to polish the surface of pattern-welded steel yourself, nor disassemble the guard or handle. The sooner the problem is identified, the easier it is to preserve the original surface and assembly state.
